Project #1: Full Structural Rebuild, New Footings & Ledger Board Repair

The Problem: Before
This Barrie deck was a major safety hazard. The ledger board was rotting and pulling away from the house, and the main support joists were "spongy" due to years of moisture trapped under the surface boards.

The Solution: After
We performed a complete structural overhaul. This included replacing the rotted ledger, installing heavy-duty lateral tension ties, and reinforcing the frame with new pressure-treated timber and joist flashing tape
Project #2: Safety Railing & Board Replacement

The Problem: Before
The old wooden railings were wobbly, and the floorboards were grey, splintered, and dangerous for bare feet. The deck no longer met modern Ontario Building Code safety standards.

The Solution: After
We replaced all the boards and replaced damaged joists. We finished the project by installing a sleek, code-compliant black aluminum railing system for a modern, maintenance-free look.
Project #3: Stair Stringer & Landing Replacement

The Problem: Before
The stairs were "bouncy" and the bottom of the wood stringers had rotted where they touched the wet ground. The steps were unstable and a major fall risk.

The Solution: After
We built custom, heavy-duty stair stringers and installed them on a new concrete landing pad to keep the wood away from moisture. The result is a rock-solid, safe entrance to the deck.
Project #4: Complete Deck Overhaul & Stair Re-Engineering

The Problem: Before
What started as "bouncy" stairs was actually a symptom of a catastrophic structural failure. The deck’s original foundation had shifted due to shallow footings (frost heave), causing the ledger board to pull away from the house. The stair stringers and post bases were completely rotted from direct contact with wet soil, creating an immediate collapse risk for the entire structure.

The Solution: After
A complete transformation from a dangerous liability to a rock-solid, code-compliant outdoor living space. By addressing the foundation first, we ensured this overhaul will last for decades without the risk of future wood rot or structural shifting.
Our Standard Overhaul/Restoration Process
-
Total Strip-Down: We remove all rotted decking and non-compliant railings to expose the frame.
-
Foundation Correction: We replace shifting surface blocks with 4-foot-deep concrete sonotube footings to get below the Barrie frost line.
-
Frame & Ledger Reinforcement: We replace rotted beams and secure a new ledger board with structural lag bolts to reconnect the deck safely to the home.
-
Custom Stair Engineering: We build heavy-duty, custom stair stringers and install them onto a new landing pad (as needed), ensuring the wood stays dry and elevated away from ground moisture.
-
Premium Finishes: The projects are finished with high-durability pressure-treated wood and a black aluminum railing systems that meets all Ontario Building Code (OBC) safety standards.
